Mini ex - dipper plumbing protection?

I have a 4 ton mini that I primarily use for brush/woods clearing. When in thick woods, limbs and debri often get entangled in the hydraulic lines and plumbing. Often the stick and bucket are in brush so thick you can't see clearly what's going on until it's too late. I have damaged various hoses and the hard plumbing associated with the thumb many times. Repairs can be aggravating and costly and of course always in the woods! Has anyone ever considered adding some type of shielding to protect the plumbing on the sides if the stick to prevent this type of damage??? I see threaded bolt holes on the side of my stick in the areas of the plumbing that could possibly be used to secure the shields.
