Turn the key and nothing. No power to the key switch. Need wiring diagram.

Cleaned battery connections, batt is at 12.7V Main block fuse at the battery is good. Checked all the fuses. There are 4 relays in a box R1,R2,R3,R4 I don't know what they do. Safety lock lever switch checks out. Can't find a diagram on line except for one that covers way more machines than I need.

Thanks if you have any info.

Anyone haul their mini on a flatbed truck?

My smallest mini and my track loader will fit (weight wise and size wise) on the flatbed of my F550. I have a spare 12,000 winch with wireless remote that I figured I'd use to assure no slipping as I drive each up onto the tilted bed, then chain them down. Both are running rubber tracks, but I still don't think I'd consider loading them on the bed without the winch. I backed up to a hill and loaded my mini excavator to check the height with it loaded. It looks like it must be right around 12'6 on top of the bed. I'm fine on weight for the truck's rating with either. Anyone use this method to haul their equipment? Am I missing something I should consider? The winch is just to assure that either machine doesn't go anywhere if it slips, and not to actually pull them up onto the bed. Thoughts?

~4T-5T Excavators

So after doing some research I am thinking that something in the 8K to 10K range is probably what I am looking for. It seems like a good size to do most miscellaneous tasks without being to big.

I am most likely looking at used excavators, although new is not totally out of the running yet. I do have an offer for a 2009 Cat 304C CR with 2300 hours on it for $22500. The only problem with the excavator is that it needs a door (which I am told is 2K). Supposedly they took it off for some reason and an employee of the guys ran over it. Anyway, obviously if I buy the machine I will take it to a dealer or other person and have them go over it with a fine tooth comb. I also know the Cat rep for the local dealer and he has offered to run the serial numbers to confirm no major repairs or maintenance issues.

Assuming everything checks out what kind of price is $22500 for that machine? It looks pretty good based upon what I see on machinerytrader.com but I have been told that the prices there are very inflated and not good comparisons.

What other excavators do you recommend I consider in the 8K-10K pound range? I have looked at Kubota but the used ones seem to be in the 30K to 40K range. What Bobcat or Takeuchi models should I be looking at and comparing to?

Lastly, if you are talking about new machines, is there a general hierarchy of prices for Cat, Kubota, Bobcat, and Takeuchi? In other words, if I look at a reasonably similar 5T machine from each brand, are they going to be similarly priced when new or are they much different?

Thanks for the help!

serial number location?

I bought a Kobelco Sk024 with a yanmar engine. Does anyone know where the serial/ID number is on this unit? I found some assorted tags in the machine which I have attached pics of. Not sure if this is one of them. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Name: 20140804_183113.jpg

Ok the bobcat strikes again. Has anyone had their pattern changer seize up on them? One of my operators runs the opposite pattern from me and we have noticed the valve getting stiffer recently till not it is seized tight will not move. Looking at the machine it appears that most of the cab has to come out including the ac or am I missing something?

Type of oil for final drive

I just purchased my first mini ex. Just about to change all the fluids and filters before I bring it up to the island for cabin construction. I have everything figured out for the filters and fluids except for the final drive. My machine is an early 90s Kobelco SK024. Do finals take a standard lubricant or is it specific machine to machine? I have tried searching on the internet for the answer but due to the age of the machine it is difficult to find any information as it was born before the digital age. Anyone have any recommendations? if not who would be a good person to contact to find out what it requires?

I'm looking at a grid / skeleton bucket with 2 1/4" x 3" grid for a 3 ton excavator, all I need to do with it is sort rocks from soil, most likely no demo work. I have never had a skeleton bucket before. Does anyone one have any thoughts on size or anything else?

Bobcat 335 cluncking swing and weak.

I am the original owner of the machine when we first got it every once in awhile it would stop when you went to swing like something got jammed in between the pinion and ring gearthen at about 2000 hours the swing motor and/orcarrier seal started to leak. I took it to a dealer to get fixed supposedly they fixed the carrier and put new bearings and seals in it.500 hours later it is leaking again and when you go to swing it clunks/chugs. It was clunking before I took it to the dealer. I took the inspection cover off the bottom and took a pry bar to the pinion gear it does not seem to have any horizontal play is it possible that the bearings in the swing motor is shot and that is why I am gettin Clunking when I swing?

Komatsu PC60-2 control levers loose

The control levers have a lot of play in them and as I've just acquired this machine I'd like to tighten things up a bit. Seeing as the machine is mid 80s getting OEM parts could be very tricky and expensive. Has anyone here had success "tightening up" manual control levers on a PC60 or any other machine? I'm thinking it may involve replacing ball joints etc, and I'd be interested to know if there is any place online to source non OEM linkage parts.

Bobcat E80 bucket sizing

Ill try to keep this short.

I have a 2013 Bobcat E80 - 900 hrs. Works well, but in hard clay it has a tough time making production with a 30" smoothedge.

Recommendation was swap out the smoothedge for a 24" spade teeth bucket and try it.

So I rented the 24" to try, and they send me this little bucket that is 6" narrower, and at least a foot smaller in height.

I called the dealer asking how I'm supposed to make production with this little teaspoon bucket. They said that its the right one for the machine.

In my mind I was expecting a bucket of similar height to the 30" I have, but just a little narrower.

Thoughts? I need to get more hard clay moved with this machine. I am digging around utilities and drain tile...which is why I like the smoothy.

Takeuchi TB016 maintainance

I have a TB016 and the manual that came with it is a bit vague but I have been trying to find out how much and how often to grease the slew motor pinion!
I guess I should first of said that I purchased this as a toy to replace my motorcycle which I can't ride anymore. Now I've enjoyed operating it so much on the farm that I've become paranoid about it's well being and hope that someone out there can tell me [better than this manual ] how to properly take care of it. The manual simply says; Use grease gun to supply grease to grease nipple and wipe off expelled grease???!!

KX161-3 Pressure From Oil Fill Cap

$

I have been looking at a 2006 KX161-3 with 2050 hours on it. When I removed the oil fill cap, you could feel air coming out of the filler hole. There was no smoke visible. The machine is at a dealer and they had two other KX161s of similar age and hours. The other two machines were the same - you could feel air coming out of the oil filler hole.

I have read that this can be a symptom of blow by. None of my other diesel engines do this. Since the three machines were exactly the same, would it be reasonable to consider this normal for this engine?

Thanks. Any input would be appreciated!
