Terex and Jcb mini hoes?

Posting this for a friend. He is looking for a 5 ton sized mini. The only 5 ton I've had was a Bobcat 335 and I loved it but bobcat isn't an option where he is. The local dealers are Terex, JCB, Kubota, Deere and Cat. Don't know much about the new jcb minis (I had an 804 super for a while and loved it), and know nothing about the terex minis. Looking at the JCB 8045 and the Terex TC50. Machine would get after an market thumb, q/c and buckets so quality of manufactuer attachments doesn't matter. Machine if for farm use so it won't get too much work a year. Any advice is appreciated, Thanks

Isuzu Diesel no start IHI 30 NX

I have an 03 IHI 30 NX that I have owned 4 years, it has 1820 hours on it. Never had any trouble out of it until this spring it has developed a nasty habit that it doesn't like to start. The engine (Isuzu 3LD1) turns over and you can hear each cylinder come up to compression and it will puff a wisp of white smoke from the exhaust. You can crank it forever and it won't start. Add the slightest bit of starting fluid through the air filter and it fires right up. Once it's running it will then start all day long with no issue or chemical assistance. Once the engine is cold again it's back to square one. This winter I tried starting it on a very cold morning and killed the battery so I figured maybe it was low voltage. Replaced the battery and both terminals. Air filter is clean, oil level is good and never been ran low, compression seems good, changed the fuel filter and found a small air leak on a fitting on the filter block. Replaced o-ring and solved that problem. Still no luck. Maybe I cooked the starter trying to start it cold. Pulled the starter and pulled it down. No burnt spots on the armature, brushes are good and intact, bearings are good, cleaned it up and put it back on, no change. My last thoughts are injector pattern, injector pressure....

I'm open to thoughts and opinions of where to go from here.

What types of jobs do you guys prefer to do with your 12 k midis ? what jobs are they productive at ? I am considering this size machine for small residential jobs such as septics and small basement digs. I believe its about the biggest size I could float behind my truck, its a gmc 5 ton with a gas engine and juice brakes I have run a cat e70b and a 305cr in this type of work in the past I just would like to hear others thoughts thanks.

I have a Grey Market IHI IS40G excavator. The steel tracks are whooped. I bought two Brand new Rubber tracks cause they were a Great deal. I have a parts manual for this machine and it list two different front Idler wheels for either steel or rubber tracks. What would be the difference?

I have a older bobcat 331. S/N begins with 512. My joystick controls will not work (no boom or turret function). I've checked the safety lock out on the left console and there is pressure going through it. How can I test the accumulator and can it be rebuilt? What else could cause this issue? Help please!

traction in snow and ice... studs?

mini excavator... snow and ice traction
explanation is in italics, skip to the question if need be!

I'm new to heavy machinery. I have 15 acres on a steep hill with a house. 4-5 months a year we have snow. The access road to the house is paved/steep. I clear 1/4 mile right now with a Jeep. It piles up at the end of the season, so moving snow once in a while would be important. We get some ice too. I'd like to be able to recover the Jeep with the excavator if need be.

The other months of the year I have enough work lined up to justify buying something old instead of renting. I cut and clear 10 cords of wood a year, and currently split and trailer out the wood. With a thumb on the excavator I could carry the whole log out, or attach a trailer to the excavator and tow out that way. Theres also a number of trails I want to build for the dirtbike. So a mini excavator is making a lot more sense. I like the idea of getting in tough places with the mini. I would get a large grader bucket for the winter snow moving. I'm thinking something in the 6000-8000 pound range.

My only issue is getting traction on packed snow and ice. I know rubber tracks won't work at all. I called Gripstud and they pointed me towards a particular short screw in stud. Would these work? Does anyone have any experience studding a rubber track? Should I go for a steel track instead?

Any and all advice is welcome when it comes to tracks on snow and ice, in the steep. I looked at the tracks for a ski slope shaper... they are all deep metal tracks. If this doesn't work, i'll go with a backhoe/loader and tire chains.

I had a muck around with it today and it certainly digs well, I'm pretty happy with it and it should make tree stumps easier to get out
What do you think?

Time to grow a little here...
I'm looking for a used midi with a swing boom and blade, and saw a few Komatsu PC95's that would fit in the price range that I'm looking at, plus have a dealer within 15 miles. Anyone on here have any experience with them that they can share?

Cat 301.8 2nd speed problem

I have a problem with the tracks.
The fast speed do not work.
When i push down the switch on the floor and push the sticks to move forward or backwards it do not move faster and it makes a noise.
Anyone have any ideas?

I think that the four hoses to the track motor is drain, pilot pressure for break, forward, backward?
Do anyone know what the working pressure should be on the two pumps and also the pilot pressure should be?

Is it so that the fast speed solonoid valve opens and increase the hyd flow to the track motors?

i got an issue with my instrument panel. When I switch it off the dash lights stay on. I disconnect the ground on battery so it want run my battery down. I know better but I used the excavator to lift the trailer while welding on it. I didn't think to disconnect my battery, hope I didn't damage the computer. All gauges work no other issues. No codes Any advise would be appreciated. It may be a bad switch and just a coincidence that it happen while welding on the trailer. All I had was a chain but that was still a continued circuit. Thanks

Yanmar Vio35-5B Rotating Drive

$

My dad recently purchased a used Yanmar Vio35 excavator with about 2,100 hours on it. It was originally a rental machine, so I'm sure it has some extra wear and tear, but everything seems to be in good working order. I replaced all of the fluids and filters since we don't know the service history. The only item that we might like to address is that there seems to be a little extra play in the rotating mechanism. Are there any adjustments for this to tighten it up? If not, is there a portion of the mechanism that can be replaced to fix this? Can anyone give me an idea on how much is involved in this project and a rough figure how much it would cost for parts?

Thank you in advance,

Ross

new to forum as well as this piece of equipment, kx41-3 has 3 grease nipples where you would grease swing arm bearing. The owners manual says grease 20 to 30 pumps turn 90 degrees and grease 20 to 30 pumps etc. It does not say which of the three grease zerks to use or what the other two are for. Any help would be appreciated.:Banghead

hydraulic pump trouble

I have a 2007 tb-135 Takeuchi with 2000 hrs on it. I have only had it for 200 hrs or so.
It was traveling in a curve in high speed but tracked straight in low speed so I did a little trouble shooting and all my pump pressures were correct .
then it seemed to loose a lot of power on the bucket curl.
I could lift the machine with no problem with the boom, then I changed pump 1 hose with pump 2 then it would not lift the machine. In my thought process it seems the pump is bad and is causing both issues. If so how do I flush system out to assure that I don't ruin new pump with debris ?

2000 Takeuchi TB125 Cooling Issue and Parts

$

Does anyone recommend any websites for parts online for an older Takeuchi? Seems like I can hardly find anything even with using proper part numbers and numerous related searches.

I recently purchased a 2000 Takeuchi TB125 mini excavator with an intermittent cooling issue... Seems more flow related like debris inside is maybe causing captivation at times...

In any event after trying a new thermostat and radiator cap my next thought was a new/rebuilt water pump and radiator just to get the best jump on this as possible however having a difficult time finding parts online... Does anyone recommend any websites or parts ordering sources?
