A new mini?

$

I am am having thoughts about replacing our mini ex. We currently have a Bobcat 331 2004-05 model. We dont really use it a whole lot but its getting to the point where everything is leaking. The machine has been beat to death and it keeps ticking...... I dont have anything negative to say about bobcats other than they beat you up pretty bad running them all day.
My next machine will have to be a zero swing, and preferably an angled dozier blade.
I havent really set out to try any machines yet, but i have ran a newer Cat 305 and a Volvo ??? not sure the size.
If anyone has suggestions on something maybe a size larger than the one i currently have it would be appreciated.
I am drawn toward the Kubotas and Volvos not sure why....... just had real good luck with Kubota engines and my friend has a Volvo he really likes.

I've been looking at the idea of getting a mini excavator but I wanted to know what everyone all uses their exc for? I was really looking at a KX121-3 kubota

I want to know the off things people use them for, not digging holes, I know there are endless attachments to use on them. before I got in to one I want to know every single think I could use this for to make it worth every penny to own because I'm not getting one to have as a toy I'm getting one to make money.

thanks

we are considering trading in the s850 witch would only work for 20 hr at a time before haven to have major repair work done. bobcat is given us a deal or should i stay far away from them. 4 of are past bobcat execrator last 1200hr before catastrophic failure, we have 3 cats with 3-4000hr on the no major problem.

Bobcat 337 - Travel Motor Drop Bearning

I had a Travel Motor on my Bobcat 337 rebuilt in August 2013 completely with new shafts, seals, piston assembly and a new cover Reason for the rebuild is I had a external (high pressure) release of hydraulic oil spraying oil through the cover that was cracked. After breaking it down the previous owner and done should very "shoddy" work He had the shaft welded ad machined and had attempted to seal the inside of the cover with some type of white sealant to prevent it from leaking. Now the it appears from my Bobcat dealer that it has dropped a bearing causing it to break the cover and is leaking the same as before the rebuild. Can anybody tell me what would cause a bearing to drop. I am hoping that the Bobcat Dealer will cover this under warranty. Any comments or insight on this would help me identify the cause and allow me the opportunity under any responsibility relating to the rebuild. Thanks Bubba

Anyone use "Millennium-Filters" for their hydraulic filters?

Hey guys,long time no post,
Anyway,I scored A Parker 'Guardian' filter/pump dodad off Craigslist awhile back & ordered a couple filters from Millennium. A 5 & a 2 micron.
I received them today & other than the separate boxes they are identical & w/o any markings.
Is this typical to have a filter element unidentified?
Anyway, the Guardian was seized up but we got it apart to see the motor run.Seems that the seller used it to pump out some water barrels a tenant left behind.
Took it apart, wire brushed & picked the rust - crude out, cleaned the strainer and filled it with old motor oil.Zoom! I can clean some oil now.
Thanks for listening

One hot 301.5!!!

Hey guys....could use a lil advice on my 2002 CAT 301.5. My friend and I bought a used 301.5 this winter to do a few odd jobs that both of us had. I finally got around to using it the other day and noticed after about 30 minutes of use it would run hot. I took a digital thermal gun and shot the engine (210f) and then the neck of the radiator (175f) the core of the radiator (150f) and the bottom tank (165f). I could tell the water pump had recently been replaced so I assumed it was good. You can bring the engine temp down immediately by turning on the heat in the cab....it was 91 degrees out so I really didn't need the heat on too bad..lol! The way the heater core for the cab is plumbed directly into the water pump that tells me that the water pump was doing its job. Today I pulled the thermostat and put it in a pan of water and brought it to 190 degrees, the thermostat opened as it should. This basically leaves the radiator as the culprit correct? I washed out the fins with hot soapy water before removing the thermostat and it was clean. I can see in the top tank and there is no corrosion or calcium built up inside. Would it be beneficial to remove the radiator and have it boiled? It looks like a TOTAL PITA to get the radiator out!

What am I missing? The only thing I thought about after disassembly was wether or not the fan blade was installed properly?

HELP!

Kubota KX-030 Hydraulic problem

Hi All,
I have just replaced my engine (V1505) in my Kubota Excavator. I replaced the engine because it was loosing compression and eventually would not start.
when I removed the engine I also removed the hydraulic pump that is mounted on housing. I removed all hydraulic fluid at this time, which was emptied via the hydraulic hoses that go from the tank to the pump.

The Boom and bucket were out stretched when it would not start so I left it like that for a couple of months until now. During this time the cab has rotated about 45 degrees due to pressure from the bucket/boom position because I tracked the excavator off the driveway without being able to lift the boom or bucket off the ground. This caused the bucket to stay in position and over time the pressure caused the cab and swing to rotate.

I have now replaced the engine which seems to be working fine but now I have no power to my boom, bucket, swing nor will the cab rotate: Banghead.

I can track forward and backwards. The push blade still operates up and down perfectly with enough power to lift the unit.

I had no issues with the hydraulics before replacing the engine.

I have just put new Hydraulic fluid in which is still just below the glass view level but it is above the Filters.

I am thinking I need to bleed the lines/cylinders after such a long period under pressure?

I am new to excavators and any help/suggestions would be great...:o

Many thanks your time is greatly appreciated.

Cat 305e COMPASS anti-theft question.

Hey y'all, I have been poking around on here for a few weeks and finally made an account to ask a question.

My boss has a 305e and cannot seem to get the anti-theft code to enable. We are on a job in a not so great area with a lot of people knowing the gate combo and he's worried it might walk off.

Is there a factory code that came on it? When I go to service on the menu it pulls up the code page but nothing I can think of works. It just kicks me back to the menu. Also when I go to the security time thing I can't change the time requirement. It also just boots me back to security settings menu.

Any help would be appreciated.

CAT 301.8 hydraulic problems

I have some problems with my CAT301.8 excavator.
It started with leak from the hoses from hydraulic pump to the " valvepack " under the floor of the machine.
I got a major leaque, so i startet to replace the 3 hoses.
By an accident i did not mark up the hoses i removed ( kids was arguing, i was a bit stressed, it was very tight space )
I have now replaced all 3 hoses from hydraulic pump, to valveblock, but machine is not working properly.
I have problems getting rid of the " air " in the system, therefore i suspect that some hoses have been misplaced

Do anyone have a picture from the manual, telling where each hose should be placed ? If i just had an confirmation of the three hoses from the hydraulic pump, it should be possible to sort things out. But, as long as iam not 110% sure, i do not know where to start.

Pics will be submitted shortly.

I need a drawing, showing what all ports on the central block are used for. Then i can double-check what that the hoses from the pump are routed correctly.

Also i need to know if there is a specific venting procedure for the valve-block.
