gehl 602 mini excavator

i work for a construction company and latley we have been having trouble with the turning motor on our machine. it will turn just fine but when we stop the swing function will float back in the oppisite direction and has aproximently an inch of play in either direction even if no one is in the machine. we think it could be the gear on the turning motor, or the break valve on the motor. we checked all the mounting bolts on the turning motor and the main gear all is tight. any help in reguards to this would be very helpful.
thank you.

Rookie question about TK

So what is the allowable operating grade that my tb135 can operate at? Meaning if its crazy steel what are the machine limitations before I tip this beast.

Deere 35c

Does anyone have access to a john deere 35c 2003? I have a low horsepower problem with mine (especially when cold) and while diagnosing said problem i noticed at the outlet of the dust collector (rubber thing on bottom of air cleaner) there was actually a puff of pressure coming out of it about every second (at idle). This seems a little out of the ordinary but this being a three cylinder and naturally aspirated i thought there could be some sort of crazy valve overlap allowing this to happen. Anyways if you have access tell me if yours does this also........................theironoracle

New toy. Cat 304.

New (to me) Cat.

Got to admit im a Hitachi guy but I couldn't pass this up. Very nice condition, 3 buckets and a Breaker. Finning serviced (on time intervals) since new. Now I have to go find some work!

Cheers.

Cat 303 cr dipper stick stuck

I have a 2005 cat 303 cr that has constant pressure to one line on the dipper stick. I checked the lines from the joystick to the selector valve and they only have pressure when the up or down function is activated so i think the problem is in the spool valve. I'm unsure and would hate to have to take the machine apart to get the valve out if I don't have to. Any help would be appreciated.

New Kubota KX91-3 won't do anything but idle....anyone have an idea.

Just had a warranty engine replacement on my KX91 and after about 7 hours the machine will no longer do anything but low idle (around 700rpm).

Info:
The auto idle selection doesn't do anything
The idle low/high idle doesn't change anything.
Manually moving the throttle near fuel injectors actually causes the engine to die instead of rev up.

thought it may be the fuel filter, which is new, so I took it off but noticed nothing. I didn't cut it open but it looks clean.

I checked the injectors, slightly loosened and diesel came out as expected, so it's getting fuel there.

Next thought is that it's getting air in the line somehow. I've looked everywhere and the only suspect part is near the on/off water separator and the fuel on/off valve. The input and output fuel lines go into metal aluminum elbows that are loose. Both will come out with a light tug. The Kubota dealer says tht this type of thing is not unusual but they are not sure that would cause the problem.

To test, I bypassed the system all together. I then let the system fuel prime pump run for a while to make sure any air gaps were pushed out but no luck. Turned the engine on and it goes right to low idle and stays...

Unfortunately the excavator doesn't have enough power at 700rpm to load on the trailer, so I can't just take it in to the shop.

Any ideas?

First NEW mini-ex purchase kx121

I just purchased a new 2012 kx121-3 with angle blade, auto idle, hyd thumb and 2 buckets. I'm upgrading from my case cx-36, as i needed something that would dig more that 11ft and do it easily through clay.

The crazy thing about this machine is it feels HUGE compared to my Case, and physically it's really not much bigger at only 1" wider.

But I love everything about it especially the fuel efficiency and how much quicker it makes my jobs.

I do have one qualm about it though. It has no power when booming left to right?? I can barely sweep 6 inches of dirt when trying to clean up.. and that's a big deal to me :(

How do you guys like your 121's?

KX71-3 Service Manual

Hello,
I am looking for a service manual for my KX71-3. I have a Drive motor leaking gear oil and would like to try to fix it myself if possible. Thanks

BOBCAT 435 Fuel Issue

I have an '06 435 Bobcat. I have, in the past and, currently been experiencing a fuel starvation issue with this machine. In the past it was an intermmittent problem. I first started having this trouble about 2-3 months ago. At that time I replaced the filters and removed the pump (I suspected the pump when the filters did not clear up the problem). I was able to get the pump to work fine when pumping from a fuel jug. I was not getting fuel delivery to the pump from the tank. I decided to blow, toward the fuel tank, and I felt some initial restriction, and then the pressure dropped and I could hear gurgling in the tank. This seemed to fix the problem as I have not had any more issues until the other day. Now, the machine will starve for fuel every 10 minutes. I suspect that I have something floating around in my tank, or the line is colapsing. I plan to dig into it in the morning. The tank is under the floor board so it will be a PITA to acces/remove. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? What tips would you have for me?

buying worn out machine for small farm

currently on our family farm we have an Iseki tractor and a case skid steer
we are looking at expanding the fleet as such
the next machine we are looking at is an excavator in the 30-50 class (3-5ton)

what are your opinions towards buying a 3500hr+ machine in need of minor repairs like pins and bushes and a leaky gasket or 2?

cheers learner :)

Mini Excavator Bucket Interchange??

Good Morning,
I have a question(s) that has been rattling around inside my head. Is there some type of standard of dimensions for the mounting of buckets on mini excavators? It seems rather odd that there would not be an industry standard of pin dia-meters, hole center distances, distances between the ears, at least within a size range. I have a Takeuchi TB035. No one seems to know of an interchange on buckets for this machine. Can you wise and experienced(you can see the des
peration) ;-) folks, either point or push me in the right direction? Thank you.
Regards,
Bob

Whats the worst "serviceable item" to service on your mini?

Just venting here, but, I have a Kubota 161-3 that has been a terrific machine, it has 3600hrs on it now and today(as i have in the past) just remembered/experienced what a PIA it is to replace/adjust the alt and ac compressor belts. Remove all the shrouding between the radiator and hyd tank and that gets you close, but to get to all the bolts so you can adjust em', just remove the seat from inside the cab so you can get to the rear of the cab, so you can remove the panel, that allows you to get to the adjustment bolts. Not impossible by any means, just not easy, and yes, I do understand it is a very compact machine with the convenience of AC, but when you refer to the manual for "belt adjustment" and it says "see dealer" that is never good. Oh, and while that cab panel is removed, might as well charge the AC unit because the low pressure line is only accessible from there as well. Im sure there are other machines with similar circumstances and I would love to hear about em...

Takeuchi TB250 greymarket final drive parts

I have recently purchased a TK 250 that is a good machine but both final drives are leaking. I appears to be the floating seals that is the problem. The drives are KYB MAG-26V-P-310. The dealer says $744.00 each for the seals and it requires 2 per drive. Anyone know where I can get these and be more cost efficient. Open to other ideas to repair. Too good of a machine to go to the scrap yard.

Eng. oil change interval 500hrs...... seems a bit long.

(Cat 304) Manual says 500hr engine oil change interval.

I realize this is fairly black and white but.....It also says says to grease the bucket linkages every 50hrs. I doubt anyone here greases every 50hrs I know I do it every 8-10hrs (daily) Manual also seems to have some other rather long greasing intervals for other components.

I believe manufactures are under pressure from various groups (marketing and environmental just to name 2) to extend service intervals both to save money and petroleum resources etc.

Long story short...... What do you all change eng. oil at hrs wise?

Looking for Advice - Mini-Ex + Mower?

Hi,

I am trying to analyze options for purchasing a new or used mini-excavator and mower head (e.g. US Mower or RockHound) to work on my own land - about 20 acres and possibly to start a side-business to help offset the payments down the road and see how I can best make a go of this.

I have already decided that I want to go this route versus hiring someone else to do it because of several reasons - capital investment, future income options, learning experience, cause it looks like a lot of fun compared to what I am doing now. I was weighing options between a skid-steer and a mini-ex and I know it would be best if I had both but I need to start some where and the application of the mini-ex combined with a mower seems like it would help me the most on my own land to start off with.

The problem is that I have looked at so many minis and cutting head options that I have frankly entered analysis-paralysis :Banghead so I figured I would ask here and see if I can get someone with more experience to help guide me. I am in metro-Atlanta and would like to keep total expenses down under $30K as I do not expect to receive any income from this for quite a while as I get some experience under my belt.

I was thinking about using a mini with mower to take down the brush on the land I have - if I could take out up to 4 or 5 inches that would be ideal that seems to take me over my $30,000 goal to get a mini and head with enough hydraulic power to do 4 or 5 inches. I also need to take down some larger trees in the 10 inch range and dig up stumps for what I can't push over and need to chainsaw out of the way. There are a number of large stumps on the land already. Its been suggested that I could dig up a hole and bury the stumps easier with the mini-ex.

Anyway - I'm just trying to do as much research as I can right now before I commit to anything and try to avoid a costly mistake - so any advice on what brand/model excavator and mower has worked for you that I could get in to for under $30K total would be appreciated. If I cannot tow it on a If you are in the Atlanta-metro area - any recommendations on dealers and who is good to work with would be helpful.

Gehl 152

I just purchased a 2000 Gehl 152 Mini-Ex. Probably going to restore it though it's not in bad shape compared to what my Bobcat looked like when I got it. I am a little disappointed that the decal set is no longer available on a 12-13 year old machine-I was able to get decal set from dealer on my Bobcat when it was twice that age. Any ideas?
I am also interested if anyone has some used doors for this unit. I think it originally came out of Texas and I'm guessing doors were an option there?

Mini excavator for logging

I want to start a bio mass harvesting operation to follow loggers of large timber and to thin tree plantations in hilly Wisconsin. I'd want to pick up the larger limbs and put them on a wagon.
I am aware that Valby grapples with rotators can be used with excavators.
I also need to buy or rent used to begin with. I assume a 50 hp, over 12,000 lb machine would be required.
Are steel tracks a must?
How steep a side hill can these operate or drive on (even if a flat spot needs to be made for picking)? (our land is 20% sloped, or greater, and often roads are made on the traverse of steeper slopes to winch to.)
Is is possible to design a way to pull a farm wagon style trailer with a machine so that it follow the excavator to be loaded on a trail?
There is a tremendous need to harvest this material to use for alternative power and heat generation in our area.

I have a sawmill and am designing a Combined Heat and Power system to make power and to use the waste heat to dry wood chips for sale to larger plants. This operation will not work without some material handling beyond my current farm tractor.
